The Bothy

Scotland is high on the happy place list, and woven into its heritage are the stories of the “Scottish Bothy”. This project was ignited by a conversation asking what will happen to all our heritage styled architecture if we don’t keep building in a heritage style? Frustrations imagining modern, out there designs sitting in our beautiful landscapes,  jarring with each other. From such frustrations the Bothy was created. With a modular steel frame, built with super insulated walls, roof and floors, the project was to design and build a heritage style modular home for a holiday let, shoot lodge, pool house, spa room, the list is endless. The significant point to the project was to build in a heritage style.  Working with real stone off-cuts, heritage roof tiles, combined with iconic architectural shape of a bothy,  this product was to go to market to challenge the existing, caravan, shepherds hut, wooden lodge to name a few. The internal footprint included a bedroom with ensuite, extra snug bedroom with ladder, kitchen, living area with a real stone fireplace. We even put in an Aga!
